Living life, daring to adventure although homeward bound.

First Weekend of November

The first freeze of November, with some promised snow. I really don’t mind snow at all, it just feels too early that’s all. And now the long wait for the spring has begun. My bike is hibernating a bit earlier than I expected to pack her up for the cold months. I was riding Thursday night home from downtown and suddenly my wheel swerved and I slide off the side of my bike. It was probably alot funnier than I’m actually describing it as usually any drama is accompanied by some alarming shouts and squawks on my part, which kind of scares the most reserved of the Finns. So upon closer inspection my rusty handlebars had broken so matter which way I tried to steer, my front wheel would continue with a mind of its own.
So today I spent part of the day looking for abandoned bicycles in the Finnish forests. There are quite a few, for those who think this is a crazy fruitless excercise. And I’ve even been told that if I checked the bottom of our lake I’d find a whole stash of them. (I’m not that desperate.)
So Jonathan’s picking up some tools and gonna head back to the forest as soon as the sunsets, to see if he can scrounge some new handlebars for me.
So the Finnish adventure continues….
