Last weekend was quite the little adventure filled with many firsts. The first time I took the intercity train since moving here, the first time I explored downtown Helsinki this year, the first time Jonathan deejayed in Finland, the first Christian music festival I’ve attended in Finland, etc. So it was a fun weekend all around. Jonathan spun new tunes on friday night around midnight or after until about 1:30am, part of the Dynamite Music Festival. We met many other deejays and had a fun time moving ourselves to the music. I love dancing and wish I could do it for longer.

The infamous Finnish hedgehogs provided the entertainment this weekend, in between periods of essay writing. We headed to a friend’s house as she promised we’d see hedgehogs around dusk. We laid out dog food and sat in the living room waiting. You can imagine me silly, giggling and pulling a chair up to the window to get “a front row seat”. Before long, sure enough, a hedgehog was chowing down on the mighty feast we’d left outside. We sent Jonathan outside with thick leather gloves to catch our furry little friend. He failed surprisingly… or no surprise… not sure.

This year Thanksgiving was different from each Thanksgiving previously. (Wow that was deep…) This was our first Thanksgiving in our new home an ocean apart from my family. It proved difficult to celebrate traditionally with a big Turkey. First problem, I don’t know how to cook a turkey but luckily I didn’t have to face the unknown as we couldn’t find a turkey in any of our local stores. Secondly our oven is super small, I don’t even think the smallest of turkeys could fit in it.
